Wales, Susan (Sue)
Susan (Sue) Wales is the retired (October 2007) Director of Planning and Research and Accreditation Manager for the Salisbury, North Carolina, Police Department where she served for 27 years. Before that she taught school for 13 years. Sue has a BA degree in Special Education and Health and Physical Education from West Liberty State College, West Virginia and a Masters degree in Education specialized in English from West Virginia University. She has 15 additional hours beyond her Masters degree. Sue has been a CALEA Assessor for 17 years, including seven years as a team leader.
Sue served on the 5th Edition Standards Focus Group for CALEA. She also assisted in providing accreditation manager training at CALEA conferences. Sue played a major role in establishing the North Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation Network in 1990 and held the position of President for three terms. She was recognized in "Who's Who in Law Enforcement” in October 1990, received her Advanced Law Enforcement Planners Certificate presented by the International Association of Law Enforcement Planners in 1992 and was named Employee of the Year 2000 for the Salisbury Police Department.
