Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP): This session will review Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) in detail. It is separate and distinct from an All-Hazard Plan. The importance and purpose of a COOP will be discussed as well as how to prepare the elements of a plan, its training and exercises.

Are You Mocking Me? Why Mocks Are Essential for Success: Welcome to the world of mocking files! You’ll learn why mocks are crucial (spoiler: they help avoid embarrassing real file reviews), when to do a mock (hint: the earlier, the less stressful), and why YOU should be a mock assessor (because someone needs to spot errors before the CSMs do and let’s face it, you’re the only one who enjoys finding mistakes). By the end, you’ll be an expert in mocking…. Files, that is!

Time Sensitive Standards, Analysis, and Reviews: Each of CALEA’s four accreditation programs include standards requiring the agency to conduct time sensitive activities. Compliance with these standards is critical to the agency’s success, not only as it relates to the assessment process, but more importantly, overall agency operations. This session will review various “activities required standards”, including those requiring administrative reviews and analysis, and provide guidance for managing compliance.

What worked for Us: CEOs and AMs will share how their agencies successfully managed the accreditation process, the challenges they faced and how they resolved them, the benefits of applying the CALEA standards, how to communicate them, community involvement, and long-term continuity of the accreditation.

The CEO Role in Accreditation: Challenges confronting Public Safety agencies require dynamic solutions. Operating in a purely reactive mode has become increasingly detrimental as challenges to public safety become more complex. Leaders actively pursuing CALEA accreditation are better equipped to face these challenges. This class will explore current topics of concern facing public safety agencies. Participants will explore the advantages of using accreditation for continuous improvement and as a tool to aggressively pursue future success. There will be a panel of experienced Chiefs and Accreditation Managers to answer questions.

Controlling the Narrative: Tips for enhancing the content of your Assessment Report: One of the benefits of the CALEA Information Management System (CIMRS) platform is the ability of a client agency to participate in the drafting of Final Compliance Report. This session will review several tips and tricks an agency should consider when entering information and data to help ensure the Commission receives a well written, complete, and informative report highlighting the positive aspects of the agency’s candidacy for accreditation or reaccreditation.

Utilizing a Professional Standards Committee: Is your accreditation manager really the accreditation doer? Does your agency struggle with employee buy-in to the accreditation process and policy changes? Are your staff spread thin with multiple meetings to address forms, policies, strategic planning, and training? Utilizing an Accreditation Team is often revered as a best practice for proof collection. The session will discuss the expansion of that team, into the professional standards committee, which can assist your agency, not only with accreditation proofs and tasks, but policy reviews, strategic planning, training, team building, and much more.

Peer Support Teams: This session covers the development of a Peer Support Team founded in 2023, including member selection and team training. Attendees will learn what peer support is (and is not), the role of peer teams during crisis events, and strategies for ongoing outreach and growth. Resources will be provided, and the session will include a Q&A.

Plus:

  • State and National Accreditation Content

  • Current public service topics and challenges

  • Technology Demonstration

  • Software presentation and support

  • Opportunity for networking

  • Vendor displays

  • And more!

Each day we will provide a light breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the day. On Wednesday evening we will host a welcome reception in the Hotel Lounge and on Thursday evening we will host a networking event.
